An inventive approach to recruitment

Situation

Sewtec Automation invents, designs, manufactures, installs and supports effective industrial automation systems worldwide.

As part of the company’s ongoing growth and transformation strategy, the business is constantly looking to hire talented individuals to join a team with a passion for invention. We were tasked with devising a content and social media strategy that would support this recruitment drive by attracting as much interest in the available roles as possible.

Response

Like any effective engineering or manufacturing PR strategy, we knew that standout content would need to sit at the heart of our campaign. We created detailed job specifications with search optimisation very much at their core and supported these with day in the life profile pieces profiling existing staff, as well as insight and opinion-led content to demonstrate the levels of expertise held by those already employed by the business.

To amplify this content beyond organic reach, we implemented a paid social media strategy to target the vacancies at relevant professionals. LinkedIn advertising was used to target those with similar job titles to the vacancy and either within a commutable distance of Sewtec Automation’s Wakefield headquarters, or – in the case of international sales agents – within the required country.

Results

Over the two-year period to date, the campaign has so far delivered:

  • More than 30 optimised job specifications
  • More than 20,000 pageviews on individual job vacancy pages
  • The successful hire of a USA sales agent in direct response to a LinkedIn advert, costing just a fraction of of a typical recruitment fee
