You must want to constantly improve yourself as a PR practitioner and develop your knowledge across content, social media and search disciplines. Client portfolio

Brand8 PR provides corporate, consumer, trade and technical public relations, content marketing, social media and search services. The role would involve both B2B and B2C work, and clients that the account executive would undertake activity for include:

  • Yorkshire law firm Gordons
  • UK’s largest multi-unit development and asset management company Chancerygate
  • Housebuilder Avant Homes which builds around 2,000 houses a year throughout Scotland, north east England, Yorkshire and the Midlands
  • Edinburgh-based property developer Qmile Group
  • Sorting systems and reverse vending machine manufacturer TOMRA


The account executive is a key member of the team providing support across the agency’s portfolio of clients. Your responsibilities and accountabilities include the following:

  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
  • Promoting news stories and features to the media, known as ‘selling in’
  • Monitoring the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media sites and blogs, for opportunities for clients
  • Researching, producing and amplifying blogs and other forms of content, such as video and image-led communications, on behalf of clients
  • Uploading content to client websites using content management systems
  • Researching, writing and scheduling social media content across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, on behalf of clients
  • Daily liaison with clients and the media, via telephone and email
  • Relationship building and networking with colleagues, clients and the media
  • Collating, analysing, evaluating and distributing media coverage
  • Event management, including press interviews and promotional events
  • Attending and promoting client events to the media
  • Coordinating press photography
  • Working as part of an account team to develop client proposals and implement PR, content, social and search activity
  • Preparing regular client reports and attending client meetings
  • Undertaking research for new business proposals

Agency operations

  • Maintain a respectful, enthusiastic, and professional attitude towards colleagues, clients and suppliers
  • Assist with Brand8 PR’s marketing and sales activities as required
  • Liaison with, and management of, external suppliers and co-created content providers and influencers
  • Maintain accurate records and files of all activities, using the agency’s time recording software
  • Use Brand8 PR social channels; write for Brand8 PR blog
  • Contribute toward company growth by participating in new business development and generating excellent client case studies
  • A commitment to the job is a must and willingness to undertake travel within the UK and, occasionally, Europe (when it is safe to do so with regard to Covid-19) to fulfil the requirements of the role is essential


  • Brand8 PR is committed to developing and enhancing the skills of its people and will ensure that the account executive’s skills and knowledge are developed
  • In conjunction with management, identify areas for self-improvement and attend relevant training and development courses which the agency will pay for
  • Attend networking events, seminars and conferences, as required once it is safe to do so with regard to Covid-19, to maintain personal professional development and to build networking and new business contacts

Job requirements

  • At least one year’s PR agency experience
  • Record of high academic achievement with good degree and A level results
  • B2B PR and consumer PR background
  • Experience measuring the ROI of communications activities
  • Experience in writing content (blogs, thought-leadership, listicles) for B2B and B2C clients
  • Experience with social media influencer engagement, content campaigns and media coverage amplification
  • Good publicity skills – a strong understanding of the media, editorial requirements and what ‘makes’ a story
  • Good understanding of content marketing and social media and how to successfully utilise them as part of integrated PR campaigns
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovative thinking
  • Ability to build relationships internally and externally, interfacing at all levels
  • Excellent people and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Resilient team player who works well under pressure
  • Ambitious and with a desire to be the best operator they can
